Organist: Michael Riggs has been interested in music, pianos and organs his entire life. He began piano lessons at age ten and started playing trumpet in the school band one year later. He began playing the piano for the youth choir at Crest View Baptist Church in Lenoir at the age of 13. Two years later he became the organist for Crestview Baptist and remained  in that position for eight years.  Michael  earned a Bachelor of Arts in Instrumental Music at Lenoir-Rhyne College studying piano, pipe organ and trumpet. Following his graduation in 1986, he became organist for First Baptist Church, Hudson. 
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Design and Consumer Science from Appalachian State University in 1990. His professional employment has been in sales, upholstery and Computer-Aided Design engineering, and education. He is currently a Family and Consumer Science  teacher in Caldwell County and a private piano and organ instructor.

Michael was raised in a Christian home from birth and became a Christian at the age of 11.  "It is a blessing and honor to serve Christ each week as church organist."
